Citalia launches travel to Italy by rail

Italian holiday specialist, Citalia, is now offering travellers the chance to travel to Italy, from the UK and beyond completely by rail for the first time.

Citalia customers can board a train in London and travel all the way to Italy by rail, stopping via either Paris or Zurich, where Citalia can arrange overnight accommodation at a range of hotels.

Within Italy there are high-speed internal train options between major cities and scenic lines that travel between smaller towns and villages. During 26th December 2017 to 31st January 2018, customers will receive a complimentary first class internal Italian rail ticket per person, when booking a trip of seven nights or longer including a rail journey.

London to Lake Garda

Holidaymakers can board the Eurostar at St Pancras to begin their journey to Lake Garda by rail. Connecting in Paris, this itinerary includes a stop-over in the vibrant Swiss city of Zurich, before taking in Venice and arriving in Lake Garda for a few days.

The seven-night holiday travelling from London to Lake Garda by rail, from £1,339 per person, includes one night at the three star Sorell Hotel in Zurich, followed by three nights at the three star Ca Formentera in Venice, then three nights at the three star Nazionale in Lake Garda, all on a B&B basis.

Also included are rail transfers from London St Pancras via Paris, Zurich, Milan, Venice, Desenzano and Verona, one complimentary first class Italian rail ticket, as well as return flights one way from Verona with British Airways. Based on 7 May 2018 departures.

London to Rome

Boarding the train in London, holidaymakers can city-hop to Rome via stopovers to explore Zurich, Venice and Florence.

The nine- night holiday travelling from London to Rome by rail, from £1,669 per person includes one night at the three star Sorell Hotel in Zurich, followed by two nights at the four star San Cassiano Ca Favretto in Venice, then three nights at the four star Hotel River in Florence, and three nights at the four star Hotel Ariston in Rome, all on a B&B basis.

London to Sorrento

This 12-night holiday travelling from London to Sorrento by rail, from £1,689 per person includes two nights at the four star Andreola Hotel in Milan, followed by three nights at the four star Hotel Ariston in Rome, both on a B&B basis, then seven nights at the four star Hotel Alpha in Sorrento, on a Half Board basis.
