France- based pilots at CityJet have called for a two-day strike later this week.
The pilots’ union could take industrial action on this Friday and Saturday (17 and 18 May) after Air France put CityJet up for sale with no “communication and transparency” to them.
The pilots are concerned they might lose their jobs if the airline is sold to a non-French company. So far Ireland-based CityJet has been linked to buyers in its hometown Swords (ASL Aviation) and another in Germany, Intro Aviation.
In a statement to Travel Daily Media, CityJet said it is yet to receive an official strike notice from the pilots, which must take place 48 hours before action is taken under French law.
It will aim to minimise flight delays and cancellations if confirmed.
“We don’t have any comment on a possible strike as we haven’t received official notification that one is planned,” read the statement.
“Our shareholders are in the process of seeking investors in CityJet, that with due diligence requires confidentiality and therefore we are unable to comment further.”
