CLIA, the world’s largest cruise industry trade association, has announced plans for travel agent showcase events in Manchester and Norwich, focusing specifically on the luxury cruise and river cruise sectors. The announcement was made at its inaugural Asia River Cruise and Destination Forum, taking place this week in Vietnam and Cambodia.

Around 70 places will be available at each event, and details of venue, programme and how to secure a place will be revealed shortly.

“Asia is the fastest growing region for river cruises”

Speaking at the inaugural CLIA Asia River Cruise and Destination Forum, which includes a post-event Mekong cruise for agent delegates, Andy Harmer, director CLIA UK and Ireland, said: “We are delighted to be bringing these events to UK travel agents in September this year.

“The events in Manchester and Norwich will be the perfect opportunity to highlight the incredible innovation and breadth of cruise options in the river and luxury sectors of our industry.”

“Asia is often overlooked as a cruise destination – both in terms of river and ocean itineraries, however there are signs that the tide is turning, as Asia is the fastest growing region for river cruises, and is the driving force an increase in British river cruise passengers sailing outside of Europe.
