The DNC zone stretches from the Queensland border in the north to Tea Gardens/Hawks Nest in the south and encompasses 14 local government areas being; MidCoast, Port Macquarie Hastings, Kempsey, Macksville/Nambucca, Bellingen, Coffs Harbour, Clarence Valley, Richmond Valley, Kyogle, Lismore, Ballina, Byron Bay, the Tweed and Lord Howe Island.

In 2015/16 tourism contributed an estimated $2.8 billion to the North Coast regional economy and accounted for 12% of the North Coast’s gross regional product according to Deloitte Access Economics (2017), North Coast Tourism Satellite Accounts 2015-16.
