Conrad Bali has launched a new soap recycling project.
The initiative forms part of the resort’s RePurpose programme, which aims to divert waste from landfills through reuse, recycling and donations to underprivileged Balinese communities.
The new project is a community partnership with the ROLE Foundation, a non-profit organization that up-skills local women through training. ROLE has established a small soap-processing centre, where the recycled resort soap is sanitised, processed and moulded into new bars, before being distributed to local communities.
“This initiative reinforces our efforts to reduce waste output and strengthen communities in Bali – two core pillars of our corporate responsibility strategy. Through this initiative we aim to increase environmental awareness and personal ownership among our stakeholders and enable our guests to make sustainable choices when they travel,” said Conrad Bali’s general manager, Jean-Sébastien Kling.
Initially, 2.5kg of used soap has been collected and distributed to a local orphanage.
