Check-in: Conrad Centennial Singapore
By Joakim Persson
A familiar roar is approaching, eventually parking right outside the entrance of Conrad Centennial Singapore. It is no less than a Pagani Zonda S; one of those cars indeed developed from F1 technology and with very limited edition production. So this is as if to emphasize: “Yes, this is a Formula 1 hotel in the Southeast Asian city-state home to the new city and night race Singapore Grand Prix.” And indeed no other than F1 star driver Lewis Hamilton made Conrad his home when it was time for the inaugural race back in 2008. One cannot avoid pondering if the Pagani owner hasn’t been gladly permitted to use this V.I.P parking whenever he so wishes, as the car is such suitable marketing for this 31-storey prestigious hotel in the heart of Marina Bay!
Since Conrad opened, soon 12 years ago, adjacent to Suntec Singapore – Convention and Exhibiton Centre, the hotel has built a solid reputation as a luxury business hotel but also many other visitor’s preferred hotel, while the area has developed into a shopping Mecca. Also in its neighbourhood, Singapore’s as of yet most iconic new attraction, the Singapore Flyer (165 m) observation wheel stands ready. Enjoy a bird’s eye view of Singapore and surrounding countries (!) while sipping on Champagne in style during the 30-minute rotation.
Within the hotel, the Executive Lounge, adorned with new modern interior and enhanced facilities in 2007, guests on executive floors can fully appreciate this upscale hotel to its full benefit. On level 31, where all-day house pour beverages, afternoon teas and evening cocktails with canap
