Contiki expands Asia itineraries
Contiki has expanded its offering in India with a new 11-day ‘in-depth explorer’ style trip, Southern Spice. Several departures of the new India trip link with the existing Eternal India itinerary. Contiki has also enhanced two existing Asian journeys, China Adventure and Big Indochina Adventure, which now feature local wildlife sanctuaries.
The 11-day Southern Spice: tour sees travellers journey south from Chennai to Pondicherry, through to Kumbakonam, Madurai, Periyar, Kumbakonam, Kerala Backwaters and Cochin. Highlights include an overnight stay on a house boat on the Keralan Backwaters, a martial arts performance in Kalaripayattu and a visit to Auroville, a township dedicated to peace.
Included are visits to a spice plantation, tea factory, silk weaver’s home and bronze casting school and optional activities include a sunset boat cruise in Cochin, dress up in Sarees or Dhotis in Kumbakonam, and a local family cooking demonstration and dinner in Periyar.
Prices start from £1,589 per person and include 15 meals, twin-share accommodation, on-trip transportation and sightseeing. Departures begin in January 2018.
The 12-day China Adventure now includes an added stop in Chengdu where travellers will spend a half day at a panda sanctuary, and canjoin a Sichuan cooking class in the evening. The ‘In-Depth Explorer’ trip takes travellers through Beijing, Xi’an, Chengdu, Yangshuo and Shanghai.
Prices start from £2,329 per person and include 17 meals, twin-share accommodation, on-trip transportation and sightseeing highlights. Departures for the new and improved itinerary begin April 2018.
The 27-day Big Indochina Adventure trip passes through Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam and now includes a half-day excursion to Haven Sai Yok Elephant Sanctuary in Kanchanaburi. Prices start from £3,189 per person and include 33 meals, twin-share accommodation, on-trip transportation and sightseeing highlights. Departures begin April 2018.
