Continental Airlines revealed its May operational performance today with an increase in consolidated load factor and traffic. Consolidated load factor increased by 2.9% to 83.8% and its recorded 9.3 billion available seat miles (ASMs) resulted in a traffic increase of 3.7% and capacity increase of 0.2% compared to May 2009. Passenger revenue per available seat mile (RASM) across the airline’s services is estimated to have grown between 23% and 24%, which also increased during April’s year-on-year results. Continental’s regional operations had an increased load factor of 3% to 81% compared to May 2009 and traffic increased by 8.2%. Mainline and regional services had an on-time arrival rate of 82.5% and a mainline segment completion factor of 99.4%, according to the US Department of Transportation. Continental also announced today that all its aircraft departing from Heathrow will feature flat-bed seats in BusinessFirst. “This is a very exciting development for Continental and for our BusinessFirst customers using Heathrow, who are now assured of a flat bed seat whenever they choose to fly with us to New York or Houston,” said Continental’s Senior Director U.K. & Ireland Bob Schumacher. A new personal inflight entertainment system, a gourmet menu and a selection of wine and champagnes are also available on the Boeing 777 and 757-200 flights.
