Holiday rental specialist holidaycottages.co.uk has revealed the top 10 most popular counties around the UK that have filled the majority of its summer accommodation for this year.
Looking at occupancy rates for July and August 2016 they are:
Top 10 counties occupied for July and August 2016:
Cornwall (86%)
Northern Highlands & Islands (80%)
Devon (77%)
Central Scotland (76%)
Central Highlands and Islands (75%)
Norfolk (75%)
Isle of Wight (73%)
Dorset (69%)
Northumberland (66%)
Mid Wales (65%)
It may be no surprise that Cornwall, one of England’s most popular counties for holidays is almost full and that Devon isn’t far behind. However, it is the first time that the Northern Highlands & Islands have sold so quickly for holidaycottages.co.uk. Similarly with Central Scotland and the Central Highlands and Islands also making the top five, Scottish tourism will clearly receive a boost this summer.
Further down the table another holiday favourite, Dorset is over two-thirds full and Mid Wales is in tenth place with 65 per cent of rooms taken. With these figures as high as this in mid- May, this suggests confidence and buoyancy in the market.
James Morris, managing director of Holidaycottages.co.uk said: “Scottish charm has clearly won through to our holidaymakers who are booking up beds in Scotland in advance this year. It’s a fantastic, varied location with huge potential so we’re pleased to see these occupancy rates looking so good there this early in the season.”
