Costa Cruises celebrated its first arrival at the port of Fukuoka since the resumption of Japan itineraries for August through to October. The occasion was marked with a grand welcoming ceremony onboard Costa Classica on Saturday as the 1,680 passenger liner made her maiden call in Fukuoka. This is a significant port call for Costa Cruises which has chosen Hakata Port, Fukuoka, as a base for future East Asian cruises.
Marking the occasion, Vice President Sales and Marketing of Costa Cruises Pacific Asia Operations Dario Rustico said; “We deeply believe in the potential of Japan and in the years to come Costa Cruises will progressively increase calls to the region.” Costa Cruises is working with industry partners to develop the cruise industry in Japan, and next year it will deploy a larger ship in Japan and the Asia region. The Costa Victoria, with space for 2,394 guests, will bring a 40% increase on current capacity when it begins touring the region next year.
