On 3 May, Costa Cruises’ capacity in Asia more than doubled to over 220,000 guests, as the Costa Atlantica made its first call in Singapore.
The 2680- capacity Costa Atlantica, will operate alongside the 2,394-capacity Costa Victoria, meaning that Costa will this year offer 125 cruises in Asia, now the third largest source market for the Italian company.
Costa Victoria and Costa Atlantica will offer a unique product for the Asian market called “Italy at Sea,” featuring Italian-style hospitality, shopping and cuisine. The interior design is influenced by Italian cinema and the arts, including Fellini and La Dolce Vita, Madame Butterfly, Caffè Florian in Venice, and Milan’s Via della Spiga.
There are 1,057 cabins on board the Costa Atlantica, of which 660, including 58 suites, have balconies. Facilities include a spa, four Jacuzzis, four pools, a theatre, disco and children’s area.
In May and June, the Costa Atlantica will be offering three- and four-night cruises to Thailand and Malaysia, before moving to homeport in Keelung, Taiwan, for two five-night cruises to Japan and South Korea.
From July, she will depart from Shanghai to offer four- and five-night cruises to Japan and South Korea, including Fukuoka, Cheju, Kagoshima, Kobe, Pusan and Incheon.
