Cox & Kings has partnered Indian Railways to launch a new ultra-luxury train, Anil Mathur reports. The Maharajas’ Express joins an elite band of luxury trains in India, including Rajasthan’s Palace on Wheels and the Mumbai-based Deccan Odyssey. Unlike the other luxury trains however, the Maharajas’ Express’s itineraries will be flexible. There are currently four 11-night journeys available between Mumbai-Delhi and Delhi-Kolkata, and vice versa. The Maharajas’ Express features luxurious carriages and passenger cabins, complete with climate control, LCD television, and environmentally friendly washrooms. Other facilities include two fine dining restaurant cars and an observation lounge.
