The Crowne Plaza hotel near Venice has mistakenly sold rooms for one-hundredth of a euro, the BBC has reported. Rates at the IHG property usually reach up to EUR150 (US$213), but a technical error has meant that nearly 230 people have been able to book the 1 cent rooms, booking on average more than six nights per person. IHG has said it will honour the bookings, which could cost the company up to EUR90,000, the report said.
“Although a pricing error, IHG is committed to honouring the 1-cent rate for guests who have a valid confirmation,” IHG spokesperson, Monica Smith, was quoted saying.
