Crystal Cruises is to double voluntourism opportunities on its 2014 World Cruise.
The ultra-luxury operator is expanding the ‘You Care, We Care’ programme on Serenity’s 89-day LA-London voyage, which departs on 18 January.
Experiences on the cruise include gardening and weeding on Honolulu’s Makapu’u beach, teaching in Cambodia and crafting commemorative candles which will be lit at the annual Nagasaki Peace Ceremony.
“Our You Care, We Care participants have cherished connecting to the destinations in such an intimate, interactive, and compassionate way,” said Thomas Mazloum, Crystal’s executive vice president. “They love seeing facets of a culture not usually visited on a luxury vacation, and return to the ship feeling like they may have made a difference, however small or large. Just a few hours together can be incredibly informative, enriching, and so memorable, for both the recipients and those giving.”
