Crystal Cruises has unveiled details of its new luxury river cruise business, which is set to launch in March 2017.
First announced last month as part of a major expansion plan, Crystal has now revealed that it will launch Crystal River Cruises in Europe with two brand new luxury vessels.
The company said its river cruises boats would offer a “yacht-like design featuring larger accommodations and space-to-guest ratio than any other river cruise ship”.
“We continue to listen to what our guests and luxury travellers want, and river cruises are what they’ve been telling us they want for some time. It’s a natural extension of the exceptional ocean cruise Crystal has offered for the past 25 years,” said Crystal’s president & CEO, Edie Rodriguez.
“But more importantly, they want to experience river cruises on a luxury Crystal vessel, and their desires will be fulfilled on our luxury Crystal river yachts.”
The new 70-suite luxury river vessels, which will be built in Germany, will each offer a range of 23m² suites, plus two 46m² penthouse suites, all featuring king-size beds, bathrooms and walk-in wardrobes. Public areas will include the Palm Court lounge with a glass domed roof and dance floor, a fitness centre and spa.
The two vessels will cruises the waterways of central Europe, including France, Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, Romania and Bulgaria. Overnight stops will including dining in “Michelin-starred restaurants and local eateries”, and Crystal will arrange “exclusive evening events and entertainment”. Shore programmes will include complimentary excursions, and a luxury yacht tender will also be available.
Full itineraries, fares and bookings will be available on 1 December 2015.
River cruising is one a series of new ventures planned by Crystal, following Genting Hong Kong’s recent acquisition of the company. Other new businesses will include luxury yachts, expedition cruises and luxury air tours aboard a private Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
