Crystal Cruises has unveiled plans to significantly expand the scope of its business, with new river cruise, luxury yacht and expedition cruise ventures, and even luxury air tours aboard its own Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
The luxury cruise operator was recently acquired by Genting Hong Kong, and the new owners have now announced ambitious plans for the future of the company.
The first new venture, to be launched in December 2015, will be Crystal Yacht Cruises. The company will use its new 62-passenger Crystal Esprit yacht (pictured above) to offer voyages to destinations including the Seychelles, the Arabian Gulf and Adriatic Coast. The all-suite yacht will come with a two-passenger submarine and four 10-passenger zodiac boats for excursions.
Then in 2017, the company will launch Crystal River Cruises – a new “six-star” river cruising product that will mark Crystal’s entry into the sector. Boat and itinerary details have not yet been announced.
Also in 2017, Crystal will embark on possibly its most extravagant new venture: Crystal Luxury Air. This ultra-luxury concept will offer round-the-world trips aboard Crystal’s own Boeing 787 Dreamliner, which will be fitted with just 60 premium seats. Each itinerary will last approximately 28 days, visiting 10-12 “coveted destinations to which major airlines do not offer”. Trips will also offer luxury accommodation.
Finally, in 2018 Crystal will embark on a new luxury expedition cruise venture. The company has placed orders for three new-build Crystal Exclusive Class vessels, the first of which will enter service in late 2018. These “polar ice class” all-suite vessels will be able to accommodate 1,000 guests.
“We continue to think bigger, aiming to create unparalleled luxury experiences and adventures for our loyal and new guests, who – like Crystal – continue to seek broader horizons and new perspectives on the world,” said Crystal’s president & CEO, Edie Rodriguez. “We are ecstatic to continue pioneering new areas of luxury travel. Crystal’s newly expanded fleet will truly be travellers’ passport to virtually the entire world.”
Crystal launched 25 years ago and currently operates a fleet of two luxury ocean-going cruise ships, Crystal Symphony and Crystal Serenity.
