Darwin Airport CEO Ian Kew has said he welcomed Jetstar’s inaugural Sydney-Darwin-Ho Chi Minh City flight, with took off yesterday. The services will operate five times weekly. Kew commented that Jetstar’s additions (which include the launch of daily services on its Darwin-Adelaide route) are a welcome boost for the airport, which is suffering from high security costs.
“The main factor impacting on our competitiveness is that we are a small regional
airport that is required to have major city airport security - that creates a disproportionate impost,” Kew said.
