Princess Cruises is promising a world voyage to remember in 2011, with Dawn Princess sailing from Australia to dozens of destinations around the globe, including maiden visits to romantic Casablanca, the white cliffs of Dover and historic Jerusalem.
Bookings are now open for the 104-night journey, which will depart Sydney in May 2011 to capture the best of the Northern Hemisphere summer, with Dawn Princess transiting both the Suez and Panama canals as she visits six continents.
In all, the Australian-based superliner will visit 43 destinations, with her itinerary including maiden calls to 12 exciting ports: Abu Dhabi, Amsterdam, Ashdod (for Jerusalem), Bergen in Norway, Cartagena in Colombia, Casablanca in Morocco, Dover, Edinburgh/Glasgow, Lisbon, Fort Lauderdale, Petra in Jordan and Puntarenas for Costa Rica.
The itinerary also features an overnight call in Dubai as well as evening departures from a host of ports including Paris, Honolulu and Mumbai, and scenic cruising through the historic waters of Anzac Cove in Turkey.
Fares are available from $20,799* per person twin share for the full world voyage, or passengers can enjoy a shorter 51-night voyage from Dover to Sydney from $9499* per person. Meanwhile a 22-night sector from Los Angeles to Sydney is available from $3739* per person. Prices include Early Booking Saver fares of up to 45 per cent off brochure prices until May 31, 2010, with onboard credits of between $500-1000 per person available for bookings of more than 50 nights made before this date.
Jenny Lourey, Senior Vice President of Carnival Australia which represents Princess Cruises in Australia, said she expected the new voyage to be extremely popular, given Dawn Princess’ 2009 and 2010 world voyages had both attracted a flood of early bookings.
“Australians love these voyages as they are the only world cruises that depart from our shores and they are tailored for us,” Ms Lourey said.
Ms Lourey said that the 2011 world cruise would also be the first Princess Cruises’ voyage from Australia to operate without automatic passenger tipping.
Princess Cruises presently charges each passenger a set daily rate of A$10 a day for gratuities, unless the passenger requests it be removed from their onboard account.
“Because this cruise sails from Australia and attracts an overwhelming Australian clientele, we’ve changed our tipping policy on this cruise to reflect local community expectations,” Ms Lourey said.
The 77,000-tonne Dawn Princess carries 1998 passengers and 745 crew and offers 999 staterooms, almost half with private balconies. Her features include a new massive poolside movie screen to enable passengers to watch movies under the stars and a child-free Sanctuary retreat. Dawn Princess also offers a four-storey atrium, eight restaurants and cafes, seven lounges and bars, four pools and a 550-seat theatre.
