First it was panda diplomacy, now a pair of spotted deer has been used to warm relations between Taiwan and China. Xinhua reported that the two deer, along with a pair of goats, have been sent to the Liugongdao National Forest Park, in China’s Shandong province, as a gift from Taiwan. A Boeing 737 carried the animals from Taipei’s Taoyuan International Airport to Shandong’s Weihai airport on Saturday. The endangered Sika deer were welcomed in a grand ceremony, attended by an estimated 400 people.
