Delhi airport gets green light for passenger charge

The Indian government has approved the levy of a Development Fee (DF) by the Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), according to a Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation report. The charge will be INR1,300 (US$26.80) per departing international passenger and INR200 (US$4.10) per departing domestic passenger. The DF will come into effect on 1 March 2009, the report said.
Money raised from the charges will be used to fund the expansion of Indira Gandhi International Airport.
