Five labourers were killed and at least 20 others injured when bridge for the under-construction Delhi Metro collapsed in south of the Indian capital, Anil Mathur reports. The incident occurred early on Sunday morning near Lajpat Nagar. It is the second such incident after two people were killed and 16 others injured when another bridge section of the Metro collapsed and fell on a bus in east Delhi’s Lakshmi Nagar area in October last year.
Managing Director of Delhi Metro Corporation, E Sreedharan, has since resigned, calling the accident his “moral responsibility”.
