Delhi monuments to be illuminated

Archaeological monuments and important buildings across the capital city will be illuminated in blue on the eve of World Diabetes Day on 13 November, as a part of an awareness campaign about the disease. ‘Diabetes Blue Monument Lighting Challenge’ will be one of the main activities of Abbott Diabetes Blue Fortnight 2011, wherein major monuments and buildings across Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Ahmedabad and Bengaluru will be illuminated in blue. The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has given permission to light up six monuments in Delhi – Purana Qila, Humayun’s Tomb, Qutub Minar, Lotus Temple and Metro Bhawan.
