Delta Air Lines has doubled its unaccompanied-minor fee – the charge to transport a child between the ages of 5-14 flying alone – from US$50 to US$100 each way on a non-stop flight, the same it has been charging for connecting flights.
The fee hike is among several that passengers are facing, Seattle Times reported.
It said frequent fliers would be charged a US$25 “handling fee” for award tickets booked over the phone. Taking a pet has also become more expensive. Delta is raising the charge from US$75 to US$100 while taking an oversized bag would now cost US$150, up from US$100.
Other US-based airlines have also announced additional charges recently.
