Now in its 23rd year, the UK’s leading and longest running travel show, ‘Destinations: The Holiday & Travel Show’, is gearing up for its 2017 instalment, which will be staged in Manchester and London in January and February respectively.
Brands exhibiting will be part of this annual celebration of all things travel, which is aiming to entice visitors with a host of ‘show-only’ exclusive offers, discounts and upgrades from leading travel companies and organisations from around the globe.
Show manager Rob Debenham said: “Our 2016 shows saw us welcome 68,297 visitors in London and Manchester and we’re confident we can build on this again in 2017.
“As the leading consumer travel event in the UK, Destinations is the perfect place for exhibitors to interact with affluent travellers looking for inspiration. It’s worth noting that 73% of visitors to our 2016 shows said they intended to book a holiday within the next six months as a direct result of attending Destinations.”
And the 2017 shows have even more content designed to boost visitor numbers, with a range of special events included, from travel photography masterclasses to food tastings, travel writing to travel health advice.
A special feature of the London show is the ‘Stanfords Travel Writers Festival’ – a programme of exclusive talks by acclaimed writers, all included in the price of the ticket. It is the UK’s only dedicated travel writers festival and offers visitors the opportunity to hear from their favourite adventurers and explorers. Headlining the festival this year, and sure to be a big draw to visitors, is legendary travel writer and presenter Michael Palin. Other speakers at this year’s show include Simon Reeve, Levison Wood, Colin Thubron, Nicholas Crane and many more.
Inspiration can also be found at the two ‘Meet the Experts’ Theatres which provides over 50 hours of free travel advice, whilst the ‘Experience the World’ stages are designed to showcase culture, food and performance across Asia, the Americas, Europe and Africa.
New to Manchester is Rohan Gear Store, visitors will have an opportunity to peruse a huge selection travel clothing. Whether their next holiday involves trekking through the Monteverde Cloud Forest of Costa Rica, spotting wildlife on safari in Kenya, or wandering the snowy streets of New York at Christmas, they will be able to find what they need at the Rohan Gear Store.
Returning to Manchester this year is the MASTA Travel Health Clinic, providing a team of expert nurses to advise on holiday health concerns. Visitors can also learn to take their best ever holiday photos at the travel photography masterclass giving tips on everything from how to tell a story with composition to which lens to use.
