Pioneering a new hospitality concept in India, Discover Motels is soft testing a brand new kind of affordable hotel in India.
Discover Motels had teamed up with Best Western on a 216 -room property which sits in the foothills of Matheran in Neral, Raigad District, Maharashtra.
Economics and efficiency are at the heart of this unique hotel brand which targets the budget traveller offering rooms at low rates of US$20-50 per night.
Discover Motels was set-up with the idea of being a ‘Condominium Hotel’ in which operating units are sold to individual investors whereby each owner acquires a room, whilst the whole enterprise is managed as hotel operation under a single brand.
Discover Motels pioneered the condotel space in India and is currently expanding its network to three properties in Sri Lanka and one each in Alibag, Coimbatore, Mangalore and Chickmangalure. In total over 500 rooms are planned each year for the next five years.
“Discover Motels is positioned to lead the ‘economy resort’ space. Our unique debt-free model blends condotel, medical tourism, assisted living and timeshare opportunities in a very unique manner.
Additionally this year we plan to launch at least 500 hotel rooms based on modular building technology.
These rooms can be truck transported for use in Goa in the winter and Ooty in the summer. We are about to innovate and transform the hotel industry’, said Ms. Radhika Mandrekar, Managing Director of Discover Motels.
