Disneyland HK propped up by Mainland China
The tide of mainland tourists to Hong Kong has helped Disneyland HK post its first profit after opening seven years ago.
The report stems from the Wall Street Journal which quoted an unnamed source close to the company, while financials will officially be released early next year.
If true, this will be welcome news to shareholders including the HK government, after the park had failed to attract sufficient visitor numbers to break even since opening in 2005.
The future of the park is still clouded however, after permission was granted for the development of a Disneyland park in Shanghai, which will eat into the mainland market.
