Disputed temple sees visitors plummet

The Preah Vihear temple, which lies on the disputed border of Thailand and Cambodia, has seen a 30.1% drop in arrivals in the first quarter of 2009. The Phnom Penh Post reported that Preah Vihear welcomed just 16,700 tourists in the first three months of the year, down from 23,900 in Q1 2008.
However provincial tourism chief, Kong Vibol, was quoted saying that while clashes have been reported in the media, that “security in the province is strong and stable”.
