Butlins plans waterpark for Skegness
Butlins is to open a waterpark at its Skegness resort next year in a £13m investment. The waterpark will include indoor flumes, rapids and a lazy river ride as well as a wave pool, whirlpool and hot tub. Its water area will also include a shallow area for children, lounge areas, a café and water displays in the evening. Swimming facilities will remain open during the construction period. “The current Splash Waterworld is extremely popular so we are very excited to be improving the experience further with this investment,” said Allan Lambert, head of retail sales at Bourne Leisure.
Wyndham to roll out free WiFi in UK hotels
Wyndham Hotels is to provide free WiFi across its UK hotels following an agreement with provider Bitbuzz. Complimentary access is already available in some Ramada and Days-branded hotels in the UK, with potential across all 109 of Wyndham’s properties. Roops Johal, director of Days Hotel Heathrow said fast, safe WiFi is now a ‘necessity’ for hotels. “Since taking on Bitbuzz we have seen a huge uptake in Wi-Fi service usage by our guests,” he added.
MGallery gears up for Bath launch
Accor has announced its new MGallery hotel in Bath will open later this month. The Francis Hotel Bath is a former townhouse built in the 16th century on the south side of Queen Square. It includes Bath’s famous honey-coloured stone on its exterior, while inside its rooms are contemporary. Its dining options include sandwiches, afternoon tea and platters, as well as a Brasserie Blanc by Raymond Blanc.
