EVA Air has continued the expansion of its long-haul fleet with the delivery of two more Boeing 777 aircraft.
The Taiwanese airline received its 16th and 17th B777-300ER aircraft this week, which will enable it to expand its trans-Pacific routes to North America. EVA will also be the first airline in the world to operate its B777-300ERs with Panasonic’s new eX3 in-flight entertainment system.
“Our new Boeing 777-300ERs will allow us to initiate significant changes in the flying experience we offer passengers around the world,” said EVA’s chairman, KW Chang. “We will continue to modernise our world-class fleet with new and innovative technologies, ensuring that our passengers receive the most comfortable and memorable flying experience.”

EVA will configure its new B777-300ERs with 333 seats in a three-class layout. The Panasonic eX3 IFE system will be available in every seat, offering high-definition touch-screen monitors and handsets, plus in-flight Wi-Fi.
The double delivery also helps mark the airline’s 25-year anniversary.
“EVA Air is a long-standing Boeing customer and we are honoured to commemorate this historic double airplane delivery in celebration of our 25-year partnership,” said Ihssane Mounir, Boeing’s vice president of sales for Northeast Asia.
Based at Taipei’s Taoyuan International Airport, the new long-haul jets will enable EVA to implement a planned capacity increase on its North American routes this summer. From June 2014, the airline intends to add 10 more weekly trans-Pacific flights, with extra services to Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Toronto and Vancouver.
Following the double delivery, EVA will operate 17 B777-300ERs in a total fleet of more than 60 aircraft.
