The first scheduled Boeing 787 Dreamliner flight landed in the UK today, operated by Qatar Airways.
The aircraft’s debut is the first of many to come in the UK, with TUI and British Airways amongst the companies to launch services using the aircraft next year. As well as its onboard offering the aircraft has been welcomed for its sustainable methods.
Dreamliners are 60% quieter than aircraft of a similar size and its debut has been welcomed by Heathrow Airport.
“We know aircraft noise can disturb people living under the flight path and are therefore delighted that Qatar Airways have chosen to fly one of the world’s quietest aircraft out of Heathrow. This is another example of our drive to encourage the quietest and cleanest planes to come to Heathrow as we try to reduce the impact of the airport on the local community,” said Matt Gorman, sustainability director at Heathrow.
