Recent statistics from Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) state that total number of Indian guests for first six months of 2013 stood at 463,175. This represents a growth of 15.8% increase over the corresponding period last year. Similarly, in 2012, total number of Indian visitors totalled 763,986 representing a nine percent increase from 2011.
Given the importance and potential of the Indian market in terms of visitor arrival traffic into Dubai, the DTCM and Government of Dubai is conducting a three-city B2B India road show. The initiative is part of its 2013 marketing strategy to boost overall number of Indian travellers to Dubai.
The cities covered will be New Delhi (23 September); Mumbai (25 September) concluding with Chennai (26th September).
His Excellency Helal Saeed Almarri – director general, DTCM said: “India consecutively ranks as the top source market globally for visitor traffic into Dubai. Thus these numbers are extremely encouraging and indicate that we are on our way to achieving our Tourism Vision for 2020. Our B2B workshops play a vital role in facilitating overall number of inbound travellers into Dubai.”
The DTCM office in India is keen to tap into the group series departures and family segment along with niche segments of weddings / honeymoon, school groups, adventure / sport and luxury seekers and single women travellers.
