Dubai hotel sector continues growth

Dubai saw a 22% growth in hotel revenue in the first quarter of 2008, the Gulf News has reported. The sector earned a total of AED4.3 billion (US$1.2 billion) during period, compared to AED3.5 billion (US$953 million) in Q1 2007. Figures released on Wednesday by the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) total hotel guests rising to 1.9 million in Q1 2008, a 7% rise from the previous year. The average number of operating hotel and hotel apartments rose 9% during this period.
