Dubai voted most popular long-haul city break by holidaying Brits

Dubai is the most popular long-haul city break destination among British holidaymakers, according to UK travel firm Southall Travel.
The destination welcomed a record 1.2 million British travellers last year and current booking trends suggests 2016 could be another record year, the travel firm said in a statement.
New York was named the second most popular long-haul city break destination followed by the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur, home of the Petronas Twin Towers.
Southall Travel booking data also revealed that Abu Dhabi is the fourth fastest growing long-haul city destination among UK tourists and was now challenging Dubai as a hot spot city break destination with bookings up 24%.
“Our booking data shows that we are becoming more and more adventurous with our travels with destinations such as Abu Dhabi and Mumbai now becoming firm favourites amounts British holidaymakers,” said Kuljinder Bahia, managing director, Southall Travel.
In a recent interview with Travel Daily, the company’s sales director Jaymin Borkhatria confirmed that Dubai, the Maldives and Mauritius were proving popular for Winter.
“With the increased frequency of flights into Dubai and expanding routes we are also noticing many more twin centres comprising a short stay city breaks in Dubai followed by extended beach holidays in Mauritius, Maldives, Seychelles even Sri Lanka,” he said.
