Dubai International Airport’s passenger traffic is set to receive a boost following the launch of services by two new airlines, according to a Gulf News report.
Dubai International welcomed Toumai Air Tchad, the privately-owned national carrier of Chad, on 23 April, and next month will see the first Hainan Airlines flight arrive. The two carriers add to Jet Airway’s decision to aunch flights to Dubai from Chennai - its third Indian connection to Dubai.
Paul Griffiths, the CEO of Dubai Airports, said that the arrival of new airlines and the expansion of the airport’s destination network has remained consistent throughout the years and is indicative of Dubai’s established position as a regional hub.
“Our latest additions - both airlines and destinations, are part of emerging markets such as China, India and Africa and this certainly bodes well for the economy in the long run,” Griffiths was reported saying.
Toumai Air Tchad will fly once a week from Chad’s capital N’djamena to Jeddah, and onward to Dubai. Hainan Airlines will fly four flights weekly from Beijing to Dubai and onward to Luanda, Angola.
