Thai hotel group Dusit International has announced plans to open another hotel school.
The company, which already operates the Dusit Thani College and a culinary training joint venture with Le Cordon Bleu, will now launch a new Dusit Thani Hotel School in Bangkok.
Based on the ASEAN Common Competency Standards for Tourism Professionals, the school will offer a curriculum at both certificate and diploma levels, covering all areas of hotel operations. It will be operated separately from the existing Dusit Thani College, and credits from the school will be transferable to higher education institutions in Thailand.
“Developing and nurturing home-grown hospitality talent is crucial for our tourism industry,” said Dusit International’s managing director & CEO, Chanin Donavanik.
“Dusit Thani Hotel School’s focus on sound theoretical instruction, on-the-job training and communication skills will allow more young people the opportunity to have a career in hospitality and make a lasting, positive contribution to the industry as a whole.”
Scheduled to open in late 2015, the Dusit Thani Hotel School will feature 7,000m² of learning space, including nine classrooms, two language labs, two IT labs, three demonstration kitchens, three practical kitchens, and mock-up rooms of key hotel areas, such as front office, housekeeping, restaurant and bar. It will be able to cater to up to 1,300 students.
