A new environmentally-friendly resort and beach club is being developed in Indonesia’s Gili Islands.

BASK Resort Gili Meno is set to debut on Gili Meno, just off the coast of Lombok, in early 2016. The first eco-resort of its type in the region, the new property will feature 81 individual villas totalling 98 rooms in studio, loft, two-bedroom and three-bedroom suite layouts.

Situated on 300 meters of white sandy beach, BASK Resort Gili Meno will be built using environmentally-friendly methods and local materials, including natural thatched roofs and bamboo-framed fishing villas.

The resort also aims to minimise its ecological footprint through the establishment of a carbon neutral programme and environmental initiatives including recycling, a no-plastic policy, water treatment plant and composting system.

Facilities will include an infinity-edged pool and spa, while the restaurant and bar will serve locally-sourced organic food and beverages.

Guests will also be able to partake in activities including from diving, golf, surfing, snorkelling, kayaking, paddle-boarding and hiking.
