Edinburgh tourist attraction The Real Mary King’s Close has reaped the rewards of its £500,000 redevelopment project with VisitScotland awarding it five stars for the twelfth year in a row.
The award follows a year which saw the attraction transform following a six-figure investment from operator Continuum Attractions. The substantial redevelopment and expansion project included the reinstatement of doorways on the Royal Mile, a new entrance and exhibition area as well as the creation of an internal 40-seat café, The Royal Exchange Coffee House.
“To have retained our five-star accreditation following such a major year in the attraction’s history is testament to the dedicated team we have here at The Real Mary King’s Close. The developments have seen our visitor journey expand meaning guests can experience more than ever before; from myth busting in our new exhibition area, to sampling Scottish produce in The Royal Exchange Coffee House,” said Craig Miller, the attraction’s general manager.
Since opening as a visitor attraction, The Real Mary King’s Close has consistently retained its five-star status and has attracted over 2 million visitors.
