MIDDLE Eastern carrier Emirates is continuing its rapid network expansion with the announcement today that it will increase frequencies to Beijing effective 01 May.
The move follows a strong debut of the Dubai-Beijing route, which EK commenced operating just eight months ago.
The carrier said that from May it will add five flights making it 12 weekly services, moving to double daily from 01 Jul.
The carrier’s president Tim Clark said that since launching the route last Sep “we have experienced strong demand from countries on our network and consistently high seat load factors.
We are in the business of creating convenient global air networks for our customers… and the upcoming Olympic Games in 2008 will increase the tempo of demand for our services to Beijing
The additional Chinese flights prepare the groundwork for more outbound traffic to Dubai from China too, with the UAE and the China National Tourism Administration last month signing a memorandum of understanding as the first step on the country receiving full Approved Destination Status from Chinese authorities.
The second daily Beijing service will be operated using an A340-300 in a three class configuration.
