Holidaymakers are taking advantage of the Jubilee weekend by booking weekend jaunts as far as the Caribbean, according to Elegant Hotels & Resorts.
Speaking to Travel Daily earlier this week, the hotel group said stays at its properties had been popular during the Jubilee weekend, with Brits travelling home Tuesday evening to take full advantage of their time off. With consumers still watching their spend, Elegant’s new ‘all-inclusive’ options are selling well, with its included activities also proving to be a draw for those looking for value.
Meanwhile with Almond closing the Almond Beach Village recently amid financial problems, Howard Friedman, CEO of Elegant said the company now has the largest number of rooms in Barbados and plans to invest more into its hotels later this year.
“From 21 May we will start to renovate the rooms in The House which will be finished by 30 September with a contemporary but comfortable feel and full of local artwork,” he said.
With Tamarind, Crystal Cove and Turtle Beach all receiving room upgrades in recent years, Friedman said the changes to The House would see “the group fully renovated and revitalised”. He added the hotels have incorporated more lifestyle elements with a focus on activities, wellness, spa and food as well as the ‘fly and flop’ holiday mode.
“I have also just commissioned a designer to update the Colony Club, which will have an ‘old world but cool’ look and will be done by November,” added Friedman.
