The Vida Downtown Dubai has a new masterpiece. At a height of 15 metres, Jaeyho Lee’s Chorus, is the newest sculpture introduced by Emaar Properties in Downtown Dubai. Chorus has been sculpted using 3.4 tonnes of steel and 7.6 tonnes of wood.
Ahmad Al Matrooshi, managing director, Emaar Properties, said: “Downtown Dubai is enhancing the artistic identity of the city with works of art by artists from around the world. Chorus is a testament to the multicultural identity of Dubai and the community.”
The sculpture, essentially, draws inspiration from the flow, movement and rhythm of a group of people gathering in one of the main districts in South Korea – Gwanghwamun Square. Lee assembled the sculpture over five months, taking cues from the inherent dynamism of the people’s coming together – which is an artistic homage to Downtown Dubai too, where people from all over the world meet.
