Ethiopian Airlines has launched its own tour operator under Ethiopian Holidays.

The new tour operator will offer inclusive tours and holidays around the country including cultural options in the south and trekking in the Bale Mountains.

Holidays range from five to 16 nights long and will go on sale in the UK in January 2015 through travel agents and tour operators.

Destination Store has been appointed to promote and sell the holidays in the UK on the airline’s behalf.

Those connecting through Addis Ababa will be able to get a 40% discount on domestic flights.

“We are very proud to launch Ethiopian Holidays at the World Travel Market, in partnership with Destination Store. We have a growing and strong customer base in the UK already taking advantage of our daily Boeing 787 Dreamliner services from London Heathrow to Addis and beyond,” said Michael Yared, Ethiopian Airlines country manager, UK & Ireland. “This complementary offering for the leisure market enables us to showcase the diversity of our country with a range of attractive holiday packages that further enhances the tourism flow to Ethiopia – the cradle of civilisation.”

The new tour operator supports the Ethiopian Tourism Transformation Council (ETO)’s goal of increasing tourist numbers and revenue through sustainable growth.
