Ethiopian Airlines will launch flights to Shanghai this year, using its Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.
Commencing on 29 March 2014, the national carrier will operate daily direct services between Addis Ababa and Shanghai’s Pudong International Airport. The route will be operated using Ethiopian’s brand new 270-seat Dreamliner, offering 24 seats in business class and 246 in economy.
“We are very proud of our continuous service to China for over 40 years. Ethiopian was one of only four international airlines to operate to the country back in 1973,” said Tewolde GebreMariam, Ethiopian Airlines’ CEO.
“Today, with 28 weekly direct flights operated with latest technology airplanes… we offer the best connectivity from four major cities in China to 48 cities in Africa.”
Shanghai will be Ethiopian’s 79th international destination and its fifth in China, following Guangzhou, Beijing, Hangzhou and Hong Kong.
