Etihad Airways has announced its intent to deploy the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft on its daily Washington DC service.
This new aircraft will commence service from 15 March 2015. The aircraft will showcase its new interiors with eight first suites, 28 business studios and 199 economy smart seats.
James Hogan, president and chief executive officer of Etihad Airways said: “The new aircraft will reduce operating costs and carbon emissions on our Washington DC route and provide efficiency and reliability. Importantly, we have customised the aircraft with innovative first, business and economy class cabins.”
The airline’s order for two variants of the B787 (9 and 10), is one of the largest for the type, totalling 71 aircraft. New technologies are also used to ensure noise footprint is more than 60% smaller than other aircraft of its size.
