Etihad Airways will double the frequency of its Abu Dhabi-Jakarta service this month, with the addition of a second daily flight.
Commencing on 27 October 2013, the airline will launch twice daily flights to the Indonesian capital, using a Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. The flights will depart Abu Dhabi at 0240 and 1125 each day, arriving at Jakarta’s Soekharno-Hatta International Airport at 1355 and 2240 respectively. The return flights will leave Jakarta at 1800 and 0145, getting back into Abu Dhabi at 2320 and 0705.
The extra daily service will add 5,768 extra seats per week to the route.
“The addition of a second daily flight puts Etihad Airways in a strong position in the Indonesian market because travellers will have a greater choice of departure times and will enjoy more frequent connections in Abu Dhabi to key destinations across our global network,” said Etihad’s president & CEO, James Hogan.
“The extra capacity also presents opportunities to capitalise on Indonesia’s rapidly growing aviation market and to leverage the growing trade between Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates.”
The addition of a second daily flight also complements the airline’s partnership with Garuda Indonesia. Etihad codeshares on Garuda’s six weekly flights between Jakarta and Abu Dhabi.
“We entered the Indonesian market in March 2006 with a modest four flights a week between Jakarta and Abu Dhabi and since then, we have more than tripled our frequency and have developed a strong partnership with Indonesia’s flag carrier,” said Hogan.
“Our partnership with Garuda Indonesia adds six extra flights per week to the Abu Dhabi-Jakarta sector and enables us to offer daily flights between Jakarta and Perth, Australia and connections to five Indonesian cities.”
Etihad will operate both daily Jakarta flights using a two-class Boeing 777-300ER aircraft with 28 seats in business class and 384 in economy.
