Etihad Airways 2010 first quarter figures reveal a 25.4% growth in revenue passenger kilometres. The airline’s seat factor increased to 75% and passenger numbers rose by 11%. “These are encouraging figures. Despite operating in the worst air transport recession in history, Etihad has continued its growth trajectory,” said Etihad Airways CEO James Hogan. Long-haul operations contributed the most towards the improvements, as seat factors on the Chicago, Asia-Pacific and Australian routes were more than 80%. Mr Hogan continued to say that premium cabin numbers had risen by 5% and the airline’s cost reduction plan was the reason behind the growth.
