Etihad Airways yesterday announced the launch of direct daily services between Melbourne and Abu Dhabi from March next year. Melbourne will become Etihad’s third Aussie destination, following Sydney and Brisbane. The airline’s CEO James Hogan said the services would open up new trade and tourism links between Melbourne and the UAE. “We believe it will play a definitive role in facilitating and promoting the growing and significant trade, tourism and cultural ties between Australia and the Gulf region,” he said.
