Etihad Airways’ inaugural flight to San Francisco touched down last night (Tuesday 19 November), marking the start of a new daily service from Abu Dhabi.
Officials from Etihad and San Francisco International Airport, plus HE Abdulla Alsaboosi, consul-general of the UAE, participated in a ceremonial ribbon-cutting at the departure and arrival gate. Passengers onboard the inaugural flight were presented with commemorative certificates.
Etihad will now operate the route daily using a Boeing 777-300ER aircraft leased from India’s Jet Airways.
Flights will depart Abu Dhabi at 0215, arriving in San Francisco at 0630. The return flight will then depart at 0830, getting back into Abu Dhabi at 1240 the following day.
San Francisco becomes Etihad’s fifth destination in the US, following Chicago, Los Angeles, New York and Washington DC. And later this month, the airline will add a sixth US route to Dallas.
