The European Tour Operators Association together and its partners plan to introduce a new charter to promote group tourism in Europe. The Best Practice Charter will be launched on 11 May at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Brussels where ETOA member will discuss what cities and tour operators can do to promote MICE growth and safeguard Europe’s appeal as a top group travel destination.Tourism in Europe accounts for more than EUR 320 billion in revenue and 7.8 million jobs depend directly on tourism, 20 million indirectly. However, ETOA says Europe’s tourism success is under threat with its share of global tourism in terms of international arrivals declining, from 60% of the global total in 1990 to53% in 2008.The charter event is supported by: tour operators, European city tourism boards, the International Road Transport Union and representatives from the European Parliament.
