Eurozone still most popular for UK travellers

Research by First Rate has revealed that the eurozone continues to be the most popular destination for UK travellers.The exchange rate company’s research announced that 58% of UK adults intended to take an overseas holiday this year, as holiday costs are reduced.
Gordon Gourlay, Managing Director, First Rate said: “Lower tourist prices across the eurozone are extremely good news for the millions of UK holidaymakers who are set to make to a return to traditional holiday destinations such as Spain and Portugal this year.”
Three quarters of holidaymakers picked up foreign currency before they travelled although 40% said they would have to withdraw cash from ATMs while they were abroad.
Travellers’ cheques are still a popular way of carrying money while on holiday, with 15% of customers including them in their holiday wallet.
Mr Gourlay added: “UK foreign currency retailers can expect strong demand for the currency as savvy travellers stock up on euros in order to get best value from foreign exchange deals in the UK.”
