TAIPEI, TAIWAN (Oct. 28, 2009) - The city of Taipei, Taiwan has chosen EVA Air to be the official carrier for its Taipei International Flora Expo, scheduled to run Nov. 6, 2010 - April 25, 2011. The marketing partnership was jointly announced by Taipei Mayor Lung-bin Hau and S.S. Lin, Chief Vice-Group Chairman of EVA’s parent company, the Evergreen Group. The gardening and horticultural exposition will showcase Taiwan’s lush plant life, including native flowers that keep the island country in bloom year-round, in addition to flora from throughout the world. Presale Expo tickets will be available for a reduced rate at http:// www.2010taipeiexpo.tw in the near future.
Mayor Hau described the International Flora Expo as a rare event expected to attract more than 8 million visitors. The City of Taipei invited EVA to be the official carrier because of the airline’s professional service and international service network. EVA’s planning and strategic support are added assets.
“We believe EVA is the airline that will provide the best service to more than 40 organizations and hundreds of thousands visitors from abroad,” Mayor Hau said. “It’s a win-win situation for the entire city of Taipei and EVA Air. We expect the relationship to both open doors to additional business opportunities and expand international awareness of the Taipei International Flora Expo.”
Lin pledged unified support from all of the diversified Evergreen Group’s companies. “EVA will offer special Flora Expo passenger fares and airfreight rates,” Lin said. “The Evergreen Group also will add resources from our marine and logistics companies to those of EVA in a single-unit service center. This streamlined service strategy gives Expo participants ready access to one-stop international transportation, including customs clearance and warehousing needs.”
Using Floral Taipei, Blooming for the World as its theme and working in cooperation with Expo authorities, EVA is specially outfitting one of its Airbus 330-200s with Flora Cabins. EVA will use the Flora aircraft on shorter-haul and regional routes. Passenger services on the aircraft will feature more than 40 items imprinted with Flora Expo images, including place mats, cups and head-rest covers. EVA is also printing 2 million Flora boarding passes and luggage tags for travelers who are collectors and those who simply love flowers. The airline will introduce its Flora Cabins on flights within Asia in early 2010. At the same time, it will promote the Taipei International Flora Expo on all of its flights worldwide.
While Flora Expo officials continue to be immersed in planning, international outreach and promotion, more than 29 countries and 42 cities have applied for exhibit space. Transportation capacity and reach are critical to success for an event of this scale due to the millions of green and flowering plants needed to fill the vast halls and pavilions, in addition to all of the people who will be participating and attending. When Expo officials selected EVA as the event’s official carrier, they secured safe, convenient and comfortable transportation. They also increased incentives for international visitors. It’s a partnership that’s bound to be beneficial for both the city of Taipei and EVA Air.
EVA serves a worldwide network of major business and leisure destinations in Asia, Oceania, Europe and North America. It offers more trans-Pacific flights with one-stop connections in Taipei to more destinations in Asia than any other airline. EVA also provides both passenger and air cargo services. Its North American passenger gateways are Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Newark/New York and Vancouver.
